Two types of UV light can increase your chance of developing skin cancer:

Ultraviolet A (UVA), a longer wavelength, is linked to skin aging.

Ultraviolet B (UVB) has a shorter wavelength and is connected with skin irritability. ‘

UVA (aging) & UVB (burning) rays and blue light and infrared radiation are protected by Skinbetter sun better Advanced Mineral Protection Sunscreens.

The UVB (sunburn-causing) rays are not addressed by the SPF (sun protection factor) found on sunscreens (the rays that cause tanning and premature aging). Look for sunscreens with an SPF of 30 or higher and the term “Broad-Spectrum” on the label. For a sunscreen to claim to be “wide spectrum,” it must be able to block both UVB and UVA rays. Broad-spectrum protection is provided by Skinbetter sunbetter sunscreens, which are available in sheer stick and tone-adapting formulations (both of which include just mineral actives, with no chemical sunscreen components).

According to Skincancer.org, here are some UV facts and risks:

Sunburn is caused by UVB radiation, particularly the shorter wavelengths. Tans that are both safe and healthy do not exist. Skin cancer has been linked to exposure to UVB radiation.

The “broad-spectrum protection” designation on sunscreen products refers to UVA. UVB rays were all that were blocked by early sunscreens.

UVA rays penetrate your skin more deeply than UVB rays, although slightly less intense. Most skin cancers are caused by genetic damage to cells in the deepest layer of your skin, which is exposed to sunlight. A tan is the skin’s way of protecting itself from additional injury. Premature aging and cancer can also result from long-term exposure to UVA.

UVA is all around us. Up to 95 percent of the sun’s ultraviolet rays are absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere via UVA. During daylight hours, these rays have the same degree of intensity. The human body absorbs UVA photons throughout a lifetime.

UVA rays can penetrate windows and cloud cover.

According to Skincancer.org, these are some UVB facts and risks:

The outermost layers of your skin are damaged by UVB. Overexposure to the sun results in a tan, a sunburn, and even blistering in extreme circumstances.

The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) on sunscreen labels is linked to UVB radiation. Using a product with a higher SPF number means that the sun’s rays (including some of the UVA) will take longer to cause your skin to redden than if you were not using sunscreen.

The UVB light’s intensity varies. Summer and fall are prime times for UVB rays to be at their most damaging in temperate areas, but UVB radiation can harm your skin when it is reflecting off of snow or ice or at high altitudes.

UVB rays cannot pass through the glass but can be filtered.

UVA (aging) & UVB (burning) rays and blue light and infrared radiation are all protected by Skinbetter sunbetter Advanced Mineral Protection Sunscreens.

Anti-ultraviolet (UV) radiation-blocking chemicals in sunscreen shield your skin from rays. As you can see, there are two ways in which sunscreen works:

UVA and UVB rays are deflected and scattered by the physical sunscreen components (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide).

You can protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays with chemical sunscreen components like avobenzone and octisalate.

Skinbetter sunbetter sunscreens offer 100 percent mineral-active physical protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

Skinbetter offers a SHEER SPF 56 Sunscreen Stick, a Sheer SPF Sunscreen Compact, a TONE SMART SPF 68 Sunscreen compact and a Tone Smart SPF 75 lotion. Both the Sunscreen Compact and the Sunscreen lotion are FDA-approved for 80 minutes of water resistance.
